Tips on Finding the Perfect Dress for Your Homecoming – Part1

Prom may be the most important event in a girl’s young life, but homecoming is also a huge event, second to prom. Sequined, satin, knee-length dresses are not needed in a homecoming. Teens could choose any short cocktail dress and dance the night away worry-free! However, do you know how to choose an unforgettable perfect dress for your homecoming and what should you consider when choosing it?

There are eight steps you need to do, and I will tell you the first four steps in this post.

1. Choose the right length and style.
The length of a perfect homecoming dress is above the knee. Full-length gowns are perfect for a prom or/and a classic homecoming faux. You shouldn’t choose a long dress. You need to dance in the homecoming event and the dresses with tighter, more sleek silhouettes and cuts are comfortable enough for dancing and movement. A little tulle or ruffles is perfectly permissible as well. If you wear a strapless dress to the cement party, be sure that it fits impeccably, and you don’t need to worry about your dress when you are on the dance floor.

2. Fabric, color and pattern are important.
You know homecoming is traditionally in late autumn, and your shoulder better choose the dresses in dark colors, whites, ivories, metallic tones, or blacks. Bright colors, tie-dye patterns, or summary florals are not the components of a perfect homecoming dress, though homecoming is fun and casual. If you want to look sexy, animal prints (such as leopard print and zebra print) are always a fun option. The fabrics with a sheen are a staple of homecoming attire.

3. Be sure that your dress is practical.
Some dresses with all-over sequins may look wonderful on the magazine pages, but they might not the best choice for a homecoming dress. Follow your school’s dress code(i.e., no sleeveless dresses), you need to choose the dress with sleeves or shrug to cover your shoulders. A shawl is also a good choice. Keep in mind that homecoming is as well a “semi-formal” event, dress with too many runways ruffles, or other cumbersome forms of ornamentation, is not the best choice for homecoming.
Tips: the night in autumn is going to be chilly, be sure to pari your dress with a chic coat.

4. Translate your personal style aesthetic to your homecoming dress.
Want to show “real you”? You homecoming dress should reflect your day-to-day style and personality.

a. Dress with animal print, or a dazzling one-shoulder silhouette is perfect if you are outgoing, brash, and flirtatious.
b. A floral with a sweetheart neckline or shimmering brocade and a clean hem may be your perfect dress if your normal dress classically, with an elegant touch.
c. Some tulle, ruffles, baby doll or bows are perfect for a quirky, fun and creative girl.

The really smart and attractive girl is the ones who can reflect their personal style in the limited colors, fabrics, and cuts of a homecoming dress.
